She's a keeper!

Yesterday we found her!! She's a little over 1, born a few days after Tyson. She's a mix, obvious German Shepherd coloring, but in a little lab body. She's a postpartum mom, just having given birth to 10 puppies (!! Way to go mama!!!) in late May. She soo very good with Tyson. She won us over when we took her for a walk and he was tottering behind her about 50 yards. He took a spill on the pavement and cried a bit. She immediately looked concerned, pulled me around and we jogged back to see how Ty and Jason were doing. She gave Tyson a few licks on the face and sniffed Jason to make sure everything was ok.. Awww.....We weren't sure how her 'watch dog' skills would be, but once we were home she checked each and every time the front door openend. And then, to top it off, during the night, when Tyson would cry, she was interested and wanted to go in an give us a hand. Maybe we should name her Nana, like the dog in Peter Pan. She really doesn't mind him at all, learning to touch her, accidently stepping on her toes, picking up and dropping her tail. Jason says it's probably not as much activity as she had with all the pups crawling and nipping her. Tyson gets on his hands and knees and says, 'Ar Ar'. How does he know to do that??? It's too cute.
Her given name is Jolie, but it just doesn't quite fit...so we'd like to see what you all think about the names we're thinking about.
She seems to be adjusting really well...already potty trained (whew) and just comfortable hanging out and checking things out. We could go on and on...and it hasn't even been 24 hrs yet.
*sigh*

Hooked up!

The comcast guy came today...ahh...so nice...we have our own internet that's fast and ON! :O) So a few pics that can sum up the last month and half or so...

He's a one year old!!

checkin' out his new ride

Our overnight camping trip...During the day Tyson was sooo excited about being out in nature. Here he is on our way to Oxbow Park:

at the beach

mmmm....sand-wich

"What, I ate some mud...so?"

he thoroughly enjoyed the dirt...

here's the after..

Then we went to the zoo...it was such a nice day and a lot of animals were busy eating and frolicking in the sun. Here we are watching the giraffe's:

And then off for a hike at Tryon Creek Park. The trails all intermingle and there are horse trails as well. We saw a couple of horses go by while we were eating lunch...They were huge and Tyson just watched with wonder.

No internet..

We have been experiencing technical difficulty with our internet....we'll I guess it's not too technical...the people who had wireless internet that reached our house moved, so now we have to get hooked up. We are checking emails every few days from Jason's work and the library, but by phone will be the best way to get ahold of us if needed.

Some things we have been up too...
Jason took a few weeks of vacation earlier in the month and we enjoyed family time together. We did a night of camping...(Tyson loves the dirt!!!!!! Mud in his mouth dirt on his head, the whole works) He didn't like sleeping in the tent and cried nearly all night. We were so tired we went home early. Maybe we'll have to do a night in the backyard next time..

A day hike at an area park..

Strawberry picking...Tyson is berry good at picking. He squished, smooshed and tasted a few berries. Josiah, you have a berry picking companion in the making!! A few whole ones even made it in his mouth before Mama caught him, greens and all I think!!!

Hmm....that's all I can think of for now. Jason has been keeping himself busy working on the yard and cleaning up the exterior of the house. It looks nicer every day!

We'll post pictures again when we have a chance...enjoy the sun!

update...

So it's been awhile...

Here's a recap over the last month and a half...

Moving weekend, remember that amazing weekend in mid-April? It was a blast!

taking care of the yard

enjoying the yard!

hangin' at the park

helping papa...holding the cabinet straight.

getting ready for warmer weather...nice cuts boys!! (the last picture is the now famous 'grandpa' look that Tyson does on command...along with a 'surprise' look and crossing his eyes. What a ham!)

We have been getting settled in our house, it is so great to be here. Everyday we are thankful for the blessing that this house is. Jason has been fixing things here and there, putting in a gate at the top of the stairs, as well as a few other projects I'm not allowed to tell yet...There is plenty of room for Tyson to explore, he's getting more comfortable roaming from room to room. He is quick on his knees and gaining more control on his feet. There have been a few breath-catching moments as he stands alone without holding onto anything. :O) My fun project has been learning how to garden. I've planted sunflowers and as of yesterday a little 7'x7' garden that has turned out to be mostly corn. Hmmm....maybe I should have done a little better planning. But as this is the first year, we'll see how things go. There are a few other plants, tomato, peppers, cukes and yellow summer squash. Oh, and peas. But more of that in another post....

str-r-r-etchhhh

We all know how important stretching is...especially before doing new positions and working your muscles in ways you haven't yet tried. It's a good thing Tyson got the stretching thing down........

Because yesterday he CRAWLED!! He had gotten pretty good at getting up on his hands and knees, but then could only push himself backwards and into a sitting position. On Wed while Jason was at work he got up on his hands and being that one knee was on a book on the carpet, slipped forward into a crawl. Just once though. And he didn't look surprised or seem to notice anything had happened. I told Jason on the phone that he 'crawled' (because I wasn't supposed to tell him if it happened while he was away :O) ) and explained that it was an 'accidental' crawl, not the real thing. The next morning (Thursday) when Jason got home from work he was playing with Tyson and turned on the video camera. Tyson turned around and started crawling!!! We were both watching with the video camera on!! It was pretty cute. He acted like it was no big deal. So... here's a little video of him this morning coming after the camera. In the first part of the video you can see how chewing on Tigger's tail has rubbed off on him...

Moving Day!!

Well, this is part of the front of our new home...we can't wait to show you the inside! This Saturday is moving day and our parents are coming from north and south to help us out, though I'm sure the biggest draw is the opportunity to watch Tyson! :O) The weather forecast doesn't look so good, but we are willing to dodge the raindrops! We will be offline for a week or so while we get settled and figure out which internet service we're going to use. It's a good excuse to walk across the park to the library though, to check our email....

(did you know you can click on pictures and make them bigger?? Then press the back arrow to get back to the blog)
