Boys Trip 201....oops 2013, then 2014

Man, we've been doing a great job keeping up with this blog.  Yeah... not so much.  Tyson and I just returned from our 4th annual Boys Trip.  Boys Trip 2014!!  I'm excited to write about it.  We did 4 nights in three locations.  Lots of adventures and fun.  But, there is no entry for the 3rd annual Boys Trip.  Boys trip 2013!!  I did jot some notes and have lots of pics so, I can do this.

Yeah, things often get kinda goofy on Boys trips.  In the background of these goofy dudes you'll see where we went for Boys Trip 2013.  A fire lookout shelter up near Mt. Hood.  Five Mile Butte lookout, I believe it is called.  It's off the beaten path a bit.  You bring in your own water.  There's a pit toilet (which Ty doesn't enjoy much).  It is connected to a popular trail for mountain bikers and hikers, and we were there the weekend around the 4th of July.  So, we saw a lot of visitors.  That was a bit of a bummer, but we had fun nonetheless.

The lookout was spacious enough for a couple crazy guys.

We had a propane fueled stovetop and a drain sink.  What more would we need.

Tyson enjoyed the basket on a pulley that we used to haul up much of our stuff.

At one point, Tyson said it was the awesomest place he'd been in the whole world.
It may have been true for me as well.

Some of the highlights of our trip included:
archery, carving wood (he was given his own pocket knife on this Boys Trip), throwing paper airplanes off the tower, completing a 500 piece castle puzzle, building fires, eating s'mores, taking afternoon naps, "hunting" with spears, watching Jada hunt grasshoppers, and Tyson hunting flys in the lookout with the supplied flyswatter.
Here are a few pics of such activities:
